WMOA at SXSW

In a city flooded with cutting-edge tech and immersive experiences during SXSW 2025, one activation had attendees lining up for a taste of something uniquely Texan: art, served on a metaphorical orange-and-white tray. McGarrah Jessee proudly brought the Whataburger Museum of Art (WMOA) from a beloved internet account to a physical, interactive reality, creating one of the festival's most buzzed-about and densely populated destinations.

For three days in the heart of downtown Austin, the WMOA transformed a prime venue into a sanctuary of nostalgia and humor, celebrating the iconic Texas burger chain’s profound cultural footprint. The result was a staggering over 6,000 guests who participated in the interactive experience.

The activation succeeded by perfectly capturing the quirky, community-driven spirit that defines both the WMOA brand and Austin itself. As local outlets like Austin American-Statesman's Austin360 and CultureMap Austin noted, the best SXSW experiences are those that offer a perfect blend of irony, participation, and shareable moments. The WMOA delivered precisely that.

Guests didn't just view art; they became part of it.
